INS FLSA Update

November 4, 2004

Showing complete disregard for the interests of its current and former employees, DHS has proposed an outrageously long payment process for claimants due payment under the AFGE INS FLSA case. The Union vigorously protested this schedule and the Arbitrator has ordered a hearing on this issue to take place on November 19, 2004. The Arbitrator has ordered that both the National Finance Center (the entity that will actually make the pay calculations and issue the checks) and the Department of Justice be represented at this hearing so that their testimony can be taken under oath on the timeliness of payment issue. I have posted a copy of the Arbitrator’s October 18, 2004, order below.

You can be assured that AFGE will closely question (under oath) the Agency, the Department of Justice, and the National Finance Center to insure the most rapid payments possible on this case.

I will post an update after the hearing.
