Benefits for AFGE Members

When you join the union, you have access to these AFGE benefits. These benefits are backed by the collective strength of over 10-million members of AFL-CIO unions. By using one or two of the programs, many members save as much as their annual dues.

These Money-Saving Benefits are Available Only to AFGE Members:

Union Plus Voice: VoIP

AFGE members and their families who have broadband Internet service can save on their monthly phone bill through a high quality and high value Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone service.

What is VoIP?

VoIP phone service sends local and long distance calls over the Internet and offers significant savings over old fashioned phone service.  Members who have a broadband Internet connection may place calls using a regular phone using a box that plugs directly into their broadband router.  They may also download a program and make calls using a headset connected to their computer. 

Program Features

  • CWA-organized tech support through a toll-free number or e-mail. 
  • Members save more than $50 on average over VoIP from AT&T and Vonage for the first year of service. (Savings include monthly service and activation fees)
  • $11.95 per month for unlimited outbound calling to anywhere to the United States and Canada. Perfect plan for members who access the Internet through DSL because local service is part of the DSL plan For use with a regular phone.
    • Added savings with the Union Plus Credit Card -  $99 per year
  • $14.89 per month for 500 minutes of outbound and inbound calling. 
  • $22.89 per month for unlimited outbound and inbound calling.
    • Added savings with the Union Plus Credit Card - $199 per year
  • Free calling to any other member who has the UnionPlus Voice service
  • Outbound and inbound calling plans feature a full range of services
    • Voicemail
    • Voicemail to E-mail

  • Broadband phone adapter required for use with a regular phone- $59.99.

How To Enroll

Union Members and their families can sign up for the service by calling the member-only toll free number or by going online.  For use with a regular phone, a member will need to order a broadband phone adapter, which will arrive within 10 working days.  Instructions are included with the adapter which will be plugged in the router for the existing broadband connection and the phone.  That's all there is to it.  

The service may be paid monthly with either a credit card or electronic funds transfer (EFT) from a bank account.
