President Bush Signs Executive Order Authorizing 3.9 Pay Raise for Federal Employees

AFGE applauds the efforts of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee for including a 3.5 percent pay increase for federal workers. As federal employees face unprecedented staff shortages and budget shortfalls, we can now take heart that this Congress is taking action to show support for the men and women who provide vital government services for American taxpayers.

We have fought long and hard to ensure that federal workers are able to provide for their families and are fairly compensated for their dedicated service. We are encouraged by the Subcommittee’s support of American federal workers and urge the full Senate to follow suit by approving the federal employee pay raise. [more] 7-7-2009
