AFGE Secures Additional Staffing to Protect Federal Buildings In response to the American Federation of Government Employees' concerns, Congress in December last year passed the 2008 omnibus spending bill with a provision that mandates rebuilding of the Federal Protective Service workforce, sending a strong message to the Bush administration that the 8,800 federal facilities and over 1.1 million civil servants who work in them must be properly protected.
