FERS Employees: Forget your sickleave

Recent events have forced me to review my accumalated sick leave. I will be retiring on approximately one year, and have over 1000 hours of sick leave accumalated. The Air Force will not allow me to take it, and when I retire, those hours will not be added to my years of service.

Is AFGE addressing this issue for its members. I will impact many FERS employees who plan to retire in a few years.

I am lost as to what your complaint is concerning FERS and sick leave. If you came into Federal Service after 1983, you have been a FERS employee all along, and knew that you wouldn't be able to use sick leave at your retiirement. If you converted, you knew that when you converted from CSRS to FERS. Now you want someone to fix a problem you created yourself. If this issue was important to you, you should not have converted or you should have used your sick leave over the years leading to your retirement. What exactly is your complaint about a system, while unfair, was unfair when you joined it?
