Remarks by 5th District NVP Charlotte Flowers on the passing of AFGE Employee Margaret SmithAugust 3, 2009By Charlotte Flowers With sadness, death has come among us. Margaret Smith has silently closed the door of life and departed from us never again to return. Her death is visibly and profoundly felt by those with whom she had contact with. Margaret was not just an AFGE Employee – she was our friend. We are blessed to have had the privilege of knowing her, working with her, and having someone so giving of herself. She will be missed. There is a saying that makes us think of her: Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… It’s about learning to dance in the rain. Margaret learned to dance in the rain, she put up a good fight over the last two and half years and right up to the end. It is hard to find the words to express our thoughts and feelings when we lose someone so special. Just know that “The Fearless Fifth” lost a member of their family today. She will be missed, she was loved, but she will not be forgotten. To her loving family and all who mourn with you, please accept our assurance of heartfelt sympathy.
