End NSPS Immediately and Permanently

Wednesday July 29, 2009

As government employees, we know how important it is to put a permanent end to the National Security Personnel System (NSPS). Just recently, the Defense Business Board's NSPS Task Group, which was asked by the Department of Defense to review NSPS, found that NSPS is seriously flawed. Because of this, AFGE is calling on the Department of Defense (DoD) to put an end to NSPS.

Please click here to send a message to DoD Deputy Secretary Lynn to get rid of NSPS.

Not only did the NSPS Task Group conclude that NSPS is a complete failure, it found that the process of linking pay to performance and the pay pool process is too complex and not transparent, pay bands are too broad, and the implementation of this system undermines trust between supervisors and employees.

Two separate studies - one commissioned by DoD and one by AFGE - also found glaring disparities under NSPS. NSPS takes money from those making under $60,000 and gives it to those making the highest salaries. Second, racial and ethnic minorities received lower ratings and payouts than white workers. The impact of NSPS is unconscionable and should not be tolerated even one day longer.

With your help, we'll put an end to NSPS. Please take the time to send the petition today.
