Dear editor:

Why would the Pentagon put the security of the American people at risk? By narrowing its employees' rights, the Department of Defense is setting itself up for failure. And if DOD fails, what are we left with but a vulnerable, defenseless country?

The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is the largest federal union representing DOD employees. Our experts have appeared in the New York Times and Washington Post, among other media. And now, AFGE is spearheading a joint lawsuit charging that DOD did not adequately consult with the union in developing the new regulations - as the law states - and that the regulations violate federal law by cutting collective bargaining rights.
