The number of government workers seeking a voice on the job continued to rise in January as 4,600 federal and D.C. government workers joined the AFGE family.
With an exception of September, AFGE membership has continued to go up every month since April last year.
For the first month of 2023, AFGE attracted 4,600 new members, surpassing our goal of recruiting at least 3,500 members a month, which we have been able to do every month since February last year.
Due to retirement, people changing jobs or leaving the union, our net gain in January was 204 active members. District 5 had the most membership gain at 233.
More retirees are joining our union – our retiree membership went up 115 last month with District 6 having the most net gain of 58.
