AFGE calls for changes to imaging policies

The TSA responded to initial requests to alter the policy and TSA Administrator Kip Hawley has acknowledged that the IMA testing is flawed. However, AFGE officials are calling for additional measures to be taken, according to an AFGE release.

"We are gratified that TSA heard the concerns that AFGE brought to their attention on behalf of our transportation security officers membership, but its attempt at modifying this unfair and frankly absurd policy falls way short," John Gage, AFGE national president, said in a statement.

"Even with the changes, the IMA policy remains subjective and continues to place transportation security officers at the mercy of a clearly unfair testing policy."

AFGE, the largest federal employee union, says that the testing procedures are inadequate and that transportation security officers are being trained and tested on different images.
