AFGE is proud to congratulate President-Elect Joe Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris on their electoral victory in the 2020 election.
Our nation’s public servants are ready to help lead the nation through the challenges that lie ahead, and AFGE is looking forward to working with the President-Elect to restore federal workers’ rights and take measures to keep them safe at work.
“Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’ solid victory in this election is a testament to the spirit of the American people who want our country to face the many challenges ahead of us together, as one nation, with dignity and justice for all,” said AFGE President Everett Kelley. “The Biden-Harris administration is committed to building our country back better and overcoming our greatest obstacles – starting with the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more than 230,000 of our fellow Americans and crippled our economy.”
“As the largest union representing federal and D.C. government workers, AFGE looks forward to working with the incoming administration to tackle these challenges and restore the public’s faith in the apolitical civil service,” he added. “In truth, federal employees are ready and able now to begin tackling the latest wave of COVID-19 sweeping the country, if only President Trump is willing to listen to the experts and heed their advice during his remaining weeks in office.”
As of Nov. 9, Biden received 290 electoral votes to Trump’s 214. With ballots left to count, he has won more votes than any other presidential candidate in U.S. history. Biden has also flipped several states that Trump won in 2016 – Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Arizona.
