Bill to expand veterans’ job training advances in Congress

The bill has also gained support from four veterans services organizations: the American Legion, AMVETS, the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Disabled American Veterans. The legislation would provide 570,000 unemployed veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserve more assistance in securing employment by increasing the amount of educational assistance payable by Veterans Affairs.

“Our veterans deserve the tools they need to rejoin the civilian work force,” Perriello said in a statement, “particularly as we face double-digit unemployment among our returning soldiers. I’m heartened that this legislation is advancing with the support of our top veterans’ service organizations.”
