Al Burgess works for the Department of Defense on base and is one of the people who would be affected by deep cuts. He's also the president of the American Federation of Government Employees. He says the emergency budget cuts stretch much further than civilian workers. Burgess says, "A lot of the companies and businesses are military driven. We can't afford to lose 20 percent of our pay. We can't have people losing their jobs. Businesses are going to have less people frequenting their organizations. You got to have money to spend money."
According to officials on base, civilian workers will have more information on Friday if a deal isn't reached.
