Did you catch our communications trainings at the 2021 Virtual Legislative Conference?! We were excited to welcome hundreds of AFGE members and activists for our first ever fully virtual conference — and we appreciate all those who stopped by our communications workshops.
Here's a roundup of our communications presentations:
This presentation focused on media interviews and how to navigate speaking to the press on issues important to AFGE members.
With this presentation we covered everything from how to prepare for a media interview to key tips on nailing your print or broadcast interview.

For this training we also interviewed AFGE VA Local 424 President Regina Smith and AFGE BOP Local 420 Region Vice President Rick Heldreth. They provided valuable insight on how they navigate speaking to the press in order to shed light on the issues impacting workers at their facilities.

This workshop explored simple and effective ways to stay connected. We pulled together a few tips, templates, and resources on how to stay connected with your members and activists as physical gatherings are limited. These tips are also great to keep in mind even when we can get back together again.

A key way to maintain a strong digital presence is through your very own website! During this training we also covered what makes a strong website and how AFGE locals, councils and districts can sign up for the AFGE Microsite Program. This program is an opportunity for AFGE locals, councils, and districts to build their own websites based on the AFGE website.
