Security Manager Brent Price. While operating the X-ray at Waco (Texas) Regional Airport, Transportation Security Officer William Carey spotted an image of a handgun and immediately called Supervisory TSO Rodney Bridger. A bag search revealed a .22-caliber Baretta loaded with six rounds.
When questioned, the passenger apologized. He said his girlfriend gave him the bag, and he did not know the gun was inside. The passenger was not allowed to fly that day. He was charged with carrying a weapon in a prohibited area.
"Bill has been a role model of an employee since day one," said Transportation Security Manager Brent Price. "Bill is the kind of officer that the public wants to have working to ensure their security."
Carey received an Eagle Eye award for finding the gun. In 2006, he was recognized as Waco's TSO of the Year and received the airport's Outstanding Customer Service award.
