SaturdaywastheVeteransWelcomeHomeRidefeaturedveterans,communitymembers,businessowners,andanumberofNativeAmericangroupscomingtogetherasaunitedfront.
AlmosteveryoneinHotSprings,aplaceknownasVeteransTown,saytheyhaveastoryabouthowtheVAhashelpedthem,theirfamilyortheircommunity.
Veteranswhohavegonethroughtheprogramsaythecaringatmosphereisthereasontheirtreatmentsucceeded,andtheydon'tknowwhatwouldhappenifthefacilityclosed.
"Therewasnocaringinthecityone.Peoplewouldcomeinoffthestreetstryingtogetyoubackoutofyourprogramsayingyoudon'tneedthat.Rightherewhereweareat,it'salmostafamilyatmosphere,"saidArmyVeteranLoraYvonneMaynard.
"Ithinkabouthavingtodrivealongdistanceduringthewinteroverblackice,throughsnowstorms,asanolderperson,andIwouldn'tmakeit,"saidAirForceVeteran
