Brothers and sisters of the Bureau of Prisons, when we see a fellow correctional officer or their family in need, we take care of our own. Right now, the family of fallen officer Jose Rivera needs our help.
In 2008, Rivera was viciously murdered by two of his inmates at USP Atwater, California – one held him down as the other stabbed him multiple times. He was only 22 years old, he served two tours in Iraq, and he had been on the job as a correctional officers for less than a year.
As his union family, we want to support the Rivera family and build a memorial at USP Atwater in his memory. And that’s where we need your help.
We are asking all of our members to please consider donating a few dollars to the Jose Rivera Memorial Park Fund. The donation will help establish a memorial for Rivera. Let's see this through for this two-tour Iraq War Veteran.
Checks can be sent to the Council of Prison Locals Office below:
409 Cleveland Ave
Forrest City, AR 72335
Please write “Jose Rivera Memorial Park Fund” in the notes section of the check.
We would like to provide a place for correctional officers and their community to mourn the loss of Rivera, and to show some respect and appreciation for a young man who made the ultimate sacrifice on the job.
Please consider donating to the Jose Rivera Memorial Park Fund. All donations are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for all that you do.
