Rep. Tim Murphy of Pennsylvania has pressed the Department of Veterans Affairs to hold every senior manager involved in the cover-up of the Legionnaire outbreak at the Pittsburgh VA hospital accountable. The VA recently fired Terry Gerigk Wolf, director of the Pittsburgh VA Healthcare System, but there are other senior managers who were responsible but are not being held accountable, including David Cord, who was recently promoted to be director of the Erie VA Medical Center.
“I think that’s indefensible and incomprehensible,” Mr. Murphy told VA Deputy Director Sloan Gibson at a recent hearing. The lawmaker added that Cord also misled him about whether the Pittsburgh VA had a waiting list.
Gibson said he would look into the lawmaker’s allegation.
