Whitesboro High School graduate Daniel E. Liddell has been making great strides in his career.
Liddell, 47, recently was selected by the federal Transportation Security Administration to be the security director at Hancock International Airport in Syracuse.

The Transportation Security Administration is an agency operated by U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
In his new position, Liddell not only will oversee operations at Hancock, but also will be involved in airports in Binghamton, Ithaca, Watertown, Ogdensburg, Massena and Rome.
“I've been here (at TSA) for five years, and I'm very excited about the post and the assignment,” Liddell said.
Liddell first served as an infantry officer in the Marines for 22 years. He said his desire to serve came from various sources.
“It was a couple of different things, first and foremost, it was the service to my country,” he said. “And, they gave me a full scholarship out of high school.”
He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in labor studies.
His father, Paul Liddell, said he has tried to be supportive of his son during his time in the military.
Daniel Liddell said he wrote him letters every day when he was in Iraq.
“I love him and wanted to try to encourage him,” said Paul Liddell, who also was in the service. “I had some knowledge of what he was going through and what was expected of him. I was afraid for his safety. I knew he was brave.”
Daniel Liddell and his wife live in Central New York and have four children: Shannon, 23, Danny, 21, Connor, 19, and Meaghan, 15.
