AFGE's Field Services and Education Department is offering two online classes that will help you become a top-notch union rep. 

Online Health and Safety Essentials Quiz 

Interested in learning more about health and safety issues in the federal workplace?  

Join Miguel, AFGE’s digital health and safety specialist, as he takes you through an interactive online quiz to test your knowledge of your rights and responsibilities under Executive Order 12196 and CFR 29 Part 1960. Topics include the role of the union, anonymity, inspections and investigations, and OSHA procedures.

AFGE Steward Essentials  

Are you a new steward, or just looking for some formalized training on steward roles, responsibilities, and best practices?  

Join us at AFGE Learn to participate in our free, self-paced, 100% online training – Worksite Representation: Steward Essentials. The training includes online modules on a range of topics, including legal frameworks of Steward duties, how to represent members in formal meetings, and grievance handling.  

Over 150 AFGE stewards have earned their virtual badge for completing the Stewards Essentials online course, with very positive feedback: “a tremendous and invaluable experience;” “so much information into an easily accessible package;” “I feel confident with the knowledge I received from the training to help our employees.”

Federal employee unions go to the FLRA to challenge agencies’ unfair practices or failures to follow their own policies, among other things. But office closures across the country are leaving workers without a place to turn.
