The Office of Personnel Management, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Office of Special Counsel, and the Merit Systems Protection Board have just put out new guidance for agencies and federal employees in the LGBT community. The guidance, entitled “Addressing Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Discrimination in Federal Civilian Employment: A Guide to Employment Rights, Protections, and Responsibilities,” spells out agency responsibilities and employment rights and protections for employees in the LGBT community.
The new guidance substantially revises and updates the previous guidance that was last issued more than a decade ago.
In addition to the four agencies, the Labor Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration has released a guide to restroom access for transgender workers.
