Federal firefighters work hard to protect lives and property at military bases, VA hospitals, and other federal installations across the country. In recognition of their efforts, AFGE each year recognizes one member as Firefighter of the Year.
The firefighter selected for this honor can come from any department or agency and will have made a significant impact on his or her Local through exemplifying outstanding achievements in areas such as pursuing legislative and political action; fostering training, education, and professional development of firefighters; and building a network of firefighters throughout the Federation through organizing and outreach to Locals.
