“Our mission is national security and public safety”, Drewitt said. “We have a lot of bad guys locked up in our facility and this could lead to a possibly, not only internally security issues arising, but could also be public or community issues as well.”
The cuts to the Department of Justice amount to 10 percent Drewitt said. Congress and the President are exempt from sequestration, he said.
Drewitt said he hopes Washington can iron out the budgetary issues before sequestration kicks in on April 1.
