The Albuquerque Sunport is the first airport in the nation to get a new state-of-the-art x-ray machine.
The new machines are zapping carry-on luggage at the Sunport.
The machines look the same to passengers in line at the security checkpoint, but they provide a whole new view for the security officers on the other side of the screen.
"What this piece of equipment does is it offers multiple views of things that are being x-rayed, as opposed to a single view. It also offers an enhanced display so the image is a lot clearer," said Transportation Security Administration spokesperson Maggie Santiago.
The TSA says the new machines mean better security, fewer bag searches, and possibly quicker lines.
Airports around the nation are now lining up for the new machines.
The Sunport paid about $1 million for the security upgrade.
