These Federal Employees Will Receive $39.9 Million, Thanks to AFGE

Checks are being mailed out to 4,400 State Department employees who won a $39.9 million settlement over an overtime grievance filed by AFGE Local 1534.
The State Department last October reached the settlement with the local over claims that the agency had improperly exempted these employees from the Fair Labor Standards Act – a federal law protecting employees from being forced to work overtime without being properly compensated.
