TSA Administrator Nomination Moves Forward

The nomination of John Pistole to serve as TSA Administrator moved forward Thursday with action in the two Senate committees responsible for considering the nomination.

The Senate Commerce Committee, which held a hearing on the nomination last week, met briefly Thursday and voted unanimously to recommend the nomination to the full Senate.

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which also holds responsibility for considering the nomination, held a nomination hearing Thursday afternoon, and a committee vote is expected as early as next week.

Once the work of the relevant committees is completed, the full Senate will consider, and likely approve, the nomination, AAAE Airport Legislative Alliance staff reported, adding that Senate leaders hope to have the nomination through the Senate by the upcoming July 4 congressional recess.
