TSO Honored by Police, Helped Apprehend Murder Suspect

April 17, 2008

Transportation Security Officer Ben Borden of Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport was honored March 28 by the Minneapolis Airport Police Department for helping apprehend a murder suspect.

Borden, working as a travel document checker at the airport on March 3, he spotted what he believed was a fake California driver's license. He referred the passenger to secondary screening and alerted Airport Police.

The Certificate of Appreciation that police gave Borden says, “Your attention to detail in this matter helped the Airport Police to identify and arrest a wanted suspect who had fled Michigan to avoid prosecution on murder charges. It has since been learned that he was also involved in drug trafficking and is awaiting possible charges for another murder that occurred several years ago in Minneapolis. Your dedication to your duties reflects positively upon you and the TSA.”

FSD Ken Kasprisin couldn't agree more. “This is a great representative example of the tremendous teamwork and professionalism that resides with the TSA employees in Minnesota and with our airport security partners,” he said.
