Venezuela could check flights from the United States

TheUSembassyiseagertoclarifythattheUSgovernmentrequestfromtheVenezuelangovernmenttoinspecttheaircraftheadingfromVenezuelanairportsfortheUnitedStates"isnotinterference."

AccordingtoaspokesmanoftheUSmission,itisacooperationmeasureagreedevenwithCubaandNicaragua.Further,theofficialnotedthattheyarebilateralagreementswherebothnationscaninspecttheairterminalsandaircraftdepartingfromforeigncountrieswiththeirterritoriesasdestination.

ShouldVenezuelanauthoritiesundertaketheagreement,theycouldalsooverseetheUSfacilitiesandaircraft,hesaid.

TheUSTransportationSecurityAdministration(TSA)regrettedlastThursdaythattheylackedtheauthorizationtoimplementinVenezuelatheinspectionsusuallyconductedoftheaircraftlandingintheUnitedStatesfromelsewhereintheworld.
