AFGE has consistently broken membership records, and June 2016 was no exception. With 1,514 new members joining the AFGE family, we ended the first half of the year 304,310 members strong — another record high!
Thanks to hard work of activists all across the country, we've grown by more than 8,000 members net in past 12 months, a remarkable achievement considering the fact that every year, 40,000-100,000 federal employees retire and 30,000-40,000 leave the federal service. But it's more than just the number that matters.
It means you have more new voices and activists to influence the issues that matter to you like your pay, your job, your health insurance, and your retirement. Every new member that joins our union makes your voice stronger.
“Our members know that joining AFGE means having a voice at work, making a better life for working people, and protecting the American dream,” said AFGE President J. David Cox Sr. "We are proud of who we are and what we stand for."
AFGE is one of the only unions to have a membership that's grown every single year for decades, and the results have enriched the lives of millions of public servants and their families. As an AFGE member you have an important role in making sure our government works for the American people and that public servants are treated fairly.
