As the president of AFGE Local 1923 since February 2019, Autrey has been responsible for providing representation to more than 30,000 employees employed at numerous agencies in the Washington metro area and nationwide, including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), the Social Security Administration, and various U.S. Navy facilities. In October 2021, Autrey represented AFGE on a roundtable with unionized federal workers hosted by Vice President Kamala Harris’ White House Task Force on Worker Organizing & Empowerment.
Autrey currently works at CMS and reached 41 years of federal government service in May 2023. She joined AFGE in March 1997 and the following year helped negotiate the first nationwide contract for employees at the Health Care Financing Administration, which was later renamed CMS. She has been the chief negotiator on five contracts since then.

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and after graduation was a congressional intern in the office of the Honorable Augustus F. Hawkins of California.
She is married to Robert James Autrey a former 42-year FEMA employee.
