Vince Castellano is District 2 National Vice President of the American Federation of Government Employees, representing federal employees in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. Castellano was first elected the position in May 2014 and was re-elected in May 2017.
NVP Castello became a public servant at the U.S. Air Force in February 1970. After 23 years with the Air Force, he was hired by AFGE as a national representative in 1993. He served in that position for nearly 21 years before being elected NVP for District 2 in 2014. He was re-elected three years later.
NVP Castellano's goal is to strengthen the services that the District provides through teamwork, communications, and rapid responsiveness. He believes that it is important for him to empower District staff members to make decisions on their own so that their work will be accomplished more efficiently.
When asked what he likes about being the NVP, he said, "It's a challenge but I like challenges. It's an entirely different job than being a National Rep. An NVP has greater responsibilities, but I believe that by all of us working together as a team - the NVP, the Locals and the staff - our District will continue to be strong.
