AFGE encourages each Local to recruit, elect or assign a member to the role of a Local Benefit Coordinator. Look for someone who is interested in consumer benefits, likes to shop for bargains and knows how to communicate.

Each Local Benefits Coordinator receives a kit which includes samples of some of the materials available to a local and a leadership guide, ACCESS AFGE. The Local Benefits Coordinator's name is placed on a mailing list at National Headquarters to receive benefit related materials and announcements that are mailed to the home address on a periodic basis.
