AFGE Endorses Texas’ Veronica Escobar for Congress

Largest federal employee union says Escobar will fight for working people

WASHINGTON – The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsement of Veronica Escobar for the U.S. House of Representatives for Texas’s 16th Congressional District.

“Veronica Escobar will fight in Congress to keep federal employees on the job caring for our veterans, supporting our military, and delivering all the programs and services that taxpayers pay for and deserve,” said American Federation of Government Employees District 10 National Vice President Cheryl Eliano.

“Veronica Escobar opposes efforts to cut federal workers’ wages, benefits, and jobs, and she will fight to provide federal employees with the resources and support they need to serve the public,” Eliano said.

Nearly 200,000 federal employees live in Texas – supporting the military, caring for veterans, guarding our borders, and ensuring the safety of the flying public.

AFGE is the largest federal employee union in the country, representing 700,000 federal and D.C. government workers in all functions of government. District 10 has nearly 45,000 dues-paying members in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, New Mexico, and Panama.
