AFGE Issues a Special Message to America's Veterans
(WASHIGNTON) – The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents employees throughout the Department of Veterans Affairs, today, issued the following statement of appreciation to our nation’s veterans:
As the nation toils through bleak economics times, stock prices and bank closures dominate the headlines and many citizens are absorbed with their own personal life challenges. It is easy to either ignore or blindly pass over the great challenges facing millions of America’s veterans, but we should always especially on Veterans Day acknowledge the tremendous sacrifice of the millions of Americans and their families who have put themselves in harm’s way in defense of a cause greater than themselves.
Since our inception as a nation, brave men and women of all races and socio-economic backgrounds have answered the call to serve in uniform. As another Veterans Day approaches we honor the sacrifice of all those who have served and for those who continue to serve. AFGE is proud that as an organization, 40 percent of our members are veterans and that the men and women in the VA we represent actively work to meet the very specialized needs of our veterans.
We salute you and we humbly express our deep appreciation for your sacrifice.
