WASHINGTON – Phil Glover, president of the Council of Prison Locals, will answer reporter questions on a dramatic increase in prison assault rates immediately following a hearing conducted by the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Science, State, Justice, and Commerce, and Related Agencies. The hearing is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on May 4, in Room 309 of the United States Capitol.
The Council of Prison Locals, a division of the American Federation of Government Employees, represents 28,000 employees in the Bureau of Prisons, including 15,000 federal correctional officers nationwide. The Council has analyzed staffing levels in federal prisons and the corresponding impact on violence. President Glover will release to the public the Council’s findings at the hearing.
