The Senate Appropriations Committee on Wednesday passed the 2016 Financial Services appropriations bill without blocking a 1.3% pay raise for federal employees proposed by President Barack Obama.
The bill also includes a provision providing a 1.3% pay increase for blue collar workers on the Federal Wage system.
The financial services bill funds the Department of Treasury, GSA, Small Business Administration, Office of Personnel Management, Executive Office of the President, the Judiciary, District of Columbia, Securities and Exchange Commission and other independent agencies. It’s typically a vehicle for federal pay provisions.
The House version of the bill, which is pending a full House vote, doesn’t include a provision blocking the proposed raise either.
AFGE thanks Senate Appropriations Committee Ranking Member Barbara Mikulski for taking the lead in protecting the employees’ cost of living increase.
