Are you tired of politicians trampling on your rights and making it nearly impossible for you to perform your job on behalf of the American public? Frustrated by the current administration’s determination to downsize or outright eliminate federal agencies, departments, and programs while giving no thought to the impact on our country? Worried about how you’re going to pay your bills and care for your family as you go without income during the latest government shutdown?
If the answer is yes, then we have a new training program that will give you the tools to fight back.
AFGE’s Organizing for Activists Training Portal is a new digital space built for federal workers who refuse to stand by while our rights, our jobs, and our unions are under attack. Through a series of interactive training modules, members will learn how to:
- Organize in the workplace.
- Grow your local’s power.
- Mobilize members.
- Protect our union from those who seek to divide or weaken us.
“AFGE’s greatest strength has always come from its members and our activists on the ground,” said AFGE National President Everett Kelley. “Through the new training modules we are rolling out, we are sending a clear message that AFGE is the voice of the federal workforce and we are not backing down from this fight.”
By learning, connecting, and organizing together, you can help us strengthen the foundation of our movement and ensure that every employee we represent has the respect, dignity, and voice they deserve.
Upcoming trainings will cover a range of topics essential for any labor leader, including workplace organizing, effective communication strategies, setting near- and long-term goals for your local, using QuickBooks for financial compliance and reporting, and the essential principles of workplace health and safety. A complete list of trainings is on AFGE’s events page.
In addition, we are hosting one-hour sessions each week entitled Fight Back 101. In these sessions, members will learn how to leverage our current situation to build worker power by taking concrete steps toward collective resistance.
All of the trainings are provided through our online platform AFGE Learn, which includes a plethora of resources for leaders and members. Even if you have an account on AFGE.org, you must create a new account in AFGE Learn to access the content.
Join your fellow activists, advocates, allies and leaders as we collectively become more confident, more connected, and more committed to standing in solidarity to win back power for working people!
