On Saturday Oct. 24, AFGE members across the country engaged in important conversations about what’s at stake this Election Day.
AFGE members and leaders joined National President Everett Kelley for AFGE’s National Day of Action, a virtual phone bank to ensure that AFGE members are prepared for this election. Together we made 14,507 calls reaching AFGE members in the races that will decide whether public servants have friends or enemies in Congress next year.
These weren’t cold calls. They were union members calling union members. That’s the most powerful conversation in politics, and AFGE members know that nobody else can have those conversations for us.
The Day of Action followed weeks of grassroots organizing, community engagement and member-to-member outreach. Leading up to Saturday, AFGE held five agency-specific virtual town halls for members at the Social Security Administration, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Transportation Security Administration, the Department of Defense, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Members heard from AFGE leaders and key staffers about the key races that matter most to AFGE members, how to volunteer with AFGE, and why strengthening the AFGE PAC helps make our voices heard. More town halls are scheduled to keep up the momentum through Election Day.
“This is the most consequential election of AFGE’s lifetime, and I was encouraged by how many AFGE members stood together and stepped up to fight for our union’s future,” said AFGE National President Everett Kelley. “The fight is not over; the battle is not won. And I encourage all AFGE members to get involved, make a plan to vote and make their voices heard.”
This year our union has fought in the courts, on Capitol Hill, in the media, and in communities across the country to defend our contracts, our union rights, our jobs, and the essential services we provide the American people every day. Those fights aren’t over, and we will likely have many new fights ahead of us. November 3 will shape every one of them in 2027.
Election Day is eight days away. Make your plan to vote and let your voice be heard. For more information or to volunteer, visit www.afge.org/electioncenter.
