AFGE’s Women and Fair Practices Department (WFP) is AFGE’s civil rights arm. As federal and DC government workers have faced relentless attacks in 2025, WFP has held strong in its mission to protect the civil rights of every AFGE member.
WFP’s EEO Attorney’s Keep Winning
WFP’s record over the last few years, and even months, has been a testament to the value of our incredible team of AFGE’s Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) attorneys. From August 2023 to August 2024, our team brought in $126,662 in attorneys fees, which are fees brought into AFGE after case wins. From August 2024 to June 2025, the team’s total attorney’s fees jumped to $209,439, approximately a 60% increase.
To understand the value of AFGE EEO attorneys, it’s important to see how their work compares to the EEO representation industry. As shown in Figure 1, WFP’s win rate has consistently surpassed the industry’s average. For allegations of discrimination brought by federal workers, the win rate is just 2%. That means, for every 100 federal sector cases, only 2 of them are resolved in favor of the employee. In just the first half of 2025, WFP is already 1,600% above the industry’s average win rate of 2%. AFGE attorneys gain wins for members at an astonishingly high 34%, which is greater than even the private sector average. The numbers speak for themselves – WFP wins big, and keeps winning!

Upcoming Programs
To soar even higher, we need AFGE members to know how to fight against discrimination in the workplace. Many cases are lost at the beginning stages, merely because they were not framed appropriately. Help us help you by joining our EEO webinars that provide you with the tools to become a better union member and employee. You can register and mark your calendars for WFP’s upcoming programming so you can stay up to date on all of the resources available to AFGE leaders and members.
All WFP programming can regularly be found on our WFP Diversity Calendar here.
