AFGE has just won a union election for Registered Nurses at Ft. Lee, Virginia. The unit comprises about 35 Army civilian nurses, who will be represented by Local 1178 led by President Willie Slater.
“In the past year Local 1178 has organized, held, and won elections for the Security Officer, Dentists and now the RNs,” said President Slater. “I want to say all of our new brothers and sisters welcome to the greatest union, AFGE, and welcome to L1178 family. Thanks for allowing us to serve you.”
Special thanks go to Carolyn Bowdry and Jessica Rhodes, both stewards and organizers for the RNs.
L1178 serves approximately 3,000 members, including Defense Commissary Agency employees at Fort Lee.
