AFGE’s Defense Conference (DEFCON) will be hosting its first annual Spring Lobbying Week from March 22-27 in Washington, D.C. For the full meeting information please check the DEFCON web page. This will provide activists with a great opportunity to lobby on issues directly affecting their installations and/or agencies. In addition, it will provide AFGE with an opportunity to have a voice in the drafting of the National Defense Authorization Act.
DEFCON Chairman Don Hale apologizes for the short notice. However, following discussions with Armed Services Committee staff and a former lobbyist during the Legislative Conference, it was determined that this is the most opportune time for DEFCON to lobby members of Congress before the NDAA is written.
In the future, the Spring Lobbying Week will be permanently built into the annual calendar, giving everyone the opportunity to more effectively plan and budget for it.
