If you missed AFGE National VA Council’s health and safety training earlier this year, here’s your second chance to attend another great conference.
Registration is open for the National Conference on Worker Safety and Health (COSHCON2023) to be held in December in Maryland.
The only national gathering of its kind, COSHCON2023 brings together union members, worker center activists, academics, and health and safety experts to share ideas and learn from one another to create healthier workplaces and reduce on-the-job injuries and deaths.
It provides a terrific opportunity to learn about the latest health and safety developments and initiatives at the national, state, and local level.
This year, the conference is focused on workers organizing around health and safety issues, and there will be the usual technical workshops such as investigation of workplace injuries and deaths and heat/climate hazards.
“I think it's important to learn from the efforts of others what works, that there are legal protections and that there is power in working together to improve working conditions,” said AFGE Health and Safety Specialist Milly Rodriguez, who will be co-facilitating a mental health class.
As federal workers, having a safe and healthy workplace is important. AFGE suggests that Local health and safety officers request management cover these costs if they have not had health and safety training.
The event will be held Dec. 6-8 at the Maritime Conference Center near Baltimore, Md.
Registration is open. Early Bird registration ($399) is until Oct. 20.
