You already know how important this election is to federal employees like us. But did you know that Election Day is only a month away?
That's right - next month, the country will go to the polls and decide who will represent us in the Senate and in Congress. Which means that AFGE members like you have a month to get involved, and make sure that our Senators and Congress members will fight for federal employees.
As a union, it is vital that we support candidates that support government employees. We need Senators and Congress members that will stand up for fair pay for federal workers, fight for federal retirement benefits, and work to ensure that our federal agencies stay open and fully staffed.
The easiest way to make sure the right people are elected to stand up for our rights, is to vote. Making sure that you and your friends are registered to vote in this election, and making sure you know where your polling place is, is a great first step. You can find information on both of those at Turbovote.
To get more involved in getting out the labor vote, AFGE and our union brothers and sisters at the AFL-CIO are holding phone banks and Labor to Neighbor walks across the country. We need you to make a few calls after work, and meet your neighbors on the weekend, to encourage your friends and coworkers to vote. To learn more, go to the Labor 2014 page to find events in your area.
There’s only a few weeks left to go, so don’t delay! Visit AFGE’s Stand Up 2014 election pages to play your part in taking our country back.
