AFGE is experiencing a surge in membership as federal workers seek a voice on the job and workplace protections following a series of anti-worker directives from the Trump administration. In January alone, we had a net increase of nearly 8,700 members. Our website crashed last week as federal employees sought clarity and guidance on these dangerous directives.
Joining together with your coworkers is a powerful way to respond to the attacks on the civil service and the American people who rely on federal workers to accomplish their agency missions.
Here are 2 easy steps if you want to join AFGE:
- If you don’t know whether your position is part of the bargaining unit and thus eligible to join a union, look up “Box 37 Bargaining Unit Status” on your SF-50 form which is in your official personnel folder. Here’s how to find your SF-50.
- If you are eligible, head over to AFGE’s E-Dues page to sign up. More than 500 AFGE Locals are accepting online enrollment through a credit card, Google Wallet, Apple Pay, ACH draft via E-Dues. It only takes a few minutes to get set up.
If you are unable to sign up using E-Dues, click here for the paper membership forms. Print out the form, follow the instructions, and return the completed form to your local union. AFGE locals are present at the worksites where we represent members. If you can’t find your local, click here to find out if AFGE represents your worksite.
When you join AFGE, you join a community of hundreds of thousands of your fellow federal workers as well as build power at your worksite and in your community, state, and country. As an AFGE member, you will have peace of mind knowing that you are not alone in the fight for fair treatment at your agency.
