AFGE Local 2317 depot employees at the Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Ga., earned their bragging rights this month as the base’s Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment Program at Marine Depot Maintenance Command was honored with the 2015 Robert T. Mason Depot Maintenance Excellence Award, which was presented Dec. 8 during the 2015 DoD Maintenance Symposium in Phoenix.
By delivering world-class, value-based repair and test solutions, the team produced more than $2 million in cost avoidances, generated cost savings in excess of $600,000, and realized more than $2 million in return on investments for the Marine Corps. Local 2317 President John Distefano accepted the award on behalf of DoD civilians at the base.
The awards ceremony was one of the highlights of the annual symposium, which is the premiere event for all defense maintainers. AFGE local and council officers from across the country attended the conference, along with four AFGE national vice presidents.
