AFGE’s 40th National Convention came to an exciting close in Orlando on Friday, Aug. 21, following the re-election of our top three national officers: National President J. David Cox Sr., National Secretary-Treasurer Eugene Hudson Jr., and National Vice President for Women and Fair Practices Augusta Y. Thomas and spirited debate about making our union Big Enough to Win.
The more than 1,500 delegates in attendance passed a number of resolutions that will help guide AFGE’s work for the next three years and provide vital new resources that will empower members to influence the issues that matter to all government workers. Delegates also heard from an array of powerful speakers from the labor movement and from allies in Congress. More than a dozen AFGE Councils also elected new leaders while meeting in Orlando.
