When it comes to serving the American people, government workers are always pounding the pavement. They inspect our food, protect our air and water, find cures to diseases, take care of our veterans, supports our troops, protect air travelers, keep our country safe, and build strong and safe communities across the nation.
Public Service Recognition Week annually honors these men and women for their tremendous contributions to this country during the first week of May. And, to kick off the festivities, hundreds of runners and walkers lace up their sneakers for the Annual Public Service 5K.
AFGE is among the official sponsors of the Sunday, May 1st race, and members can join the expected 600 plus participants or become a virtual runner. Regardless if you sweat it out in person or online, proceeds from the race will go back to federal employees in need through the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund (FEEA) Feds Helping Feds charity.
As you race past the beautiful monuments in Washington, D.C. you'll also be lending a helping hand to federal employees when personal or natural disasters strike.
