June 28: Mental Health Awareness Training, 3:00pm – 5:00pm Eastern
This interactive workshop is intended to raise awareness of mental health conditions and create a stigma-free workplace. Participants will apply the N.E.S. (Notice, Engage, Support) method to a variety of situations and explore ways to engage in a professionally appropriate and compassionate conversation about stress, resilience, and available resources.
July 7: Local Officers Online Orientation, 1:00pm-5:00pm Eastern
This overview training is designed to acquaint local leaders with the roles and responsibilities of elected officers and provide general information and resources needed to begin the process of building a strong and effective local. Legal, fiduciary, and reporting requirements are discussed, as are planning and budgeting.
July 14: Union Leadership: Leading with Our Values, 3:00pm-5:00pm Eastern
This workshop is designed for local leaders who want to pursue a values-based approach to local leadership. This online workshop will give leaders an opportunity to reflect on the personal values that shape their vision of what it means to be a leader.
July 19: Union Leadership: Thinking Strategically, 3:00pm-5:00pm Eastern
This workshop will teach local leaders how to think more strategically about the overarching goals for their local. Using frameworks designed to facilitate the strategic planning process, local leaders will learn how to assess the needs of their local and begin crafting long-term and short-term goals for the local.
July 25 & 26: Workers’ Compensation Basic, 9:00am-3:00pm Eastern
This 2-day introductory training by Workers’ Comp expert Joe Mansour covers the 5 essential elements of filing a workers’ comp claim for federal workers, the requirements of Publication CA-810, navigating the ECOMP system, and associated timelines. Actual cases are also reviewed. Updated COVID 19 requirements will be discussed. Participants must attend both days.
July 27: Union Leadership: Communicating Effectively, 3:00pm-5:00pm Eastern
This workshop is designed to help local leaders improve their communication to become more effective leaders. Communication is the key building block to a strong local. To influence and mobilize local stakeholders, local leaders must be able to listen to their members and communicate a unified vision for the local.
