As Chinese President Pays Visit to U.S., OPM Reveals New Number of Fingerprints Stolen

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has updated the number of federal employees and individuals whose fingerprints had been stolen by hackers last year: 5.6 million. U.S. intelligence officials said hackers working for the Chinese government did it.

This Is What Happened When Congress Shut down CDC in 2013

Thanks to the CDC about 90% of these lethal chemical agents – mainly mustard and nerve agents – have been safely destroyed without harming workers in the plants and the communities outside the facilities. But when Congress shut down the government in October 2013, questions were raised regarding safety and security of everyone involved. Marilyn Radke, a CDC medical officer and an AFGE member, was one of the scientists and researchers who were told to leave the fatal stockpiles behind for the duration of the shutdown that lasted 16 days.

Welcoming 2 Newly-Organized Units to the Union

September 17, 2015

AFGE on Sept. 15 won a union election to represent doctors and dentists at a VA hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. Of the 200 eligible voters, 65 people voted yes and 4 people voted no. AFGE also won an election for a small group of 5 Environmental Protection Agency employees in Dallas who report to headquarters and weren’t in the unit. The vote was 4 yes, 0 no.
