AFGE Leadership to Discuss Union's Goals During Obama Administration on "Inside Government"
WASHINGTON—Leaders from the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) will discuss this week what the union hopes to accomplish during President-elect Barack Obama’s administration on AFGE’s radio program “Inside Government.” J. David Cox, AFGE national secretary-treasurer, and Andrea Brooks, AFGE national vice president for Women’s and Fair Practices, will address such goals as collective bargaining rights for Transportation Security Officers and the repeal of a pay-for-performance initiative at the Department of Defense. Cox will also address AFGE’s continued increase in membership, while Brooks will then summarize the impact of her department’s voter protection campaign. The show will air on Friday, Nov. 14 at 10:00 a.m. ET nationwide on www.federalnewsradio.com and 1500 AM in the Washington, D.C., area.
“Inside Government” is a one-hour weekly nationwide radio/Internet program dedicated to issues that impact all federal and D.C. government employees. In launching “Inside Government,” AFGE became one of the first unions and the only federal workers’ union to have a national broadcast program on the air.
The program, hosted by AFGE Assistant General Counsel Ward Morrow, can be heard Fridays at 10:00 a.m. ET nationally on demand (available anytime) at www.federalnewsradio.com or 1500 AM in the Washington, D.C., area.
